Timeline NWA-ORC 2020/21 7 October 2021, 14.00.00: Deadline submitting full proposal March 2022: NWO Executive Board decides on projects to be granted Second half november 2021: Rebuttal phase Second half January 2022: Interview selection meetings 23 September 2021, 14.00.00: Submitting documents for assessment co-applicants October 2021 eligibility check on received proposals 8-18 February 2022: Interviews 3 13/4/25 NWA-ORC 2020/21

Important deadlines-I Deadline for request assessment co-applicants: 23 September 2021, 14.00.00 CEST Please include all necessary documents - assessment form (on NWA-ORC funding page) - extract Commercial Register ( uittreksel KvK ) - current deed of incorporation or similar formal document ( statuten ) latest available annual accounts accompanied by an audit statement ( jaarrekening ) Send by e-mail to nwa-orc2020@nwo.nl Requests after deadline will not be taken into consideration, organisations can still participate as cooperation partner Doubts whether organisation should be assessed? Contact the NWO office! - 4 13/4/25 NWA-ORC 2020/21

Important deadlines-II Deadline for submitting application via ISAAC: 7 October 2021, 14.00.00 CEST Start in time - at least 3 working days in advance Complete all fields in ISAAC Apart from application form, include all required documents, and no other than: - budget sheet - letters of support from co-funders - letters of commitment from cooperation partners (if applicable) - confirmation of contribution to investment (if applicable) the response form for replying to the selection committee s comments Include application form and attachments as separate files under the correct headers in ISAAC All attachments in PDF format, except budget form (should be in Excel) Problems in ISAAC? After the deadline NWO office will check whether applications are admissible Within two weeks after deadline Main applicant will be contacted, make sure that ISAAC profile contains correct contact information and that we can reach you in this period! Applicants will get a one-off opportunity to make corrections within five working days time No opportunity to correct for: Proposals received by NWO after the deadline (every second counts!) Proposals not submitted via ISAAC Full proposals not submitted as a pre-proposal in January 6 13/4/25 NWA-ORC 2020/21

Eligibility check Checkpoints include, but are not limited to: Main applicant, primary NWA-route and cluster question, budget range same as on pre- proposal? All fields in ISAAC and on the application form completed? All attachments included and according to format? Applicants meet the requirements? Cofunders and cofunding meet the requirements? Application form and attachments: what is important? Application form: Make sure that you use the correct application form (Impact Outlook of Impact Plan) Follow the instructions in the grey box Complete all sections of the form Keep to the page and word limits Do not change the formatting (font, line spacing, margins ) of the form Budget sheet: NOTE: use version of 6 September with NFU 2020 rates! Submit as Excel file Check all warnings before submitting Use the instruction manual available on the NWA-ORC funding page 8 13/4/25 NWA-ORC 2020/21

Application form and attachments-II Letters of support from co-funders: For every cofunder a support letter should be present Amounts in letter should be the same as in budget form Total amount of cofunding in budget should be covered by support letters Date should be correct! (no recycling of letters of intent) No conditions in support letter In case of in kind contributions: only allowed ways of cofounding Make sure that is signed by correct person (mention name and function) Conditions for cofunding: see section 3.5.6 Stick to the format In doubt whether cofunding is allowed? Assessment of proposals Proposals first assessed by external referees Consortia can respond to referee reports by rebuttal Selection committee will assess application + referee reports + rebuttal Proposals assessed on three criteria: Alignment with the objectives of the NWA-ORC programme (33.3% weighting) Quality of the consortium (33.3% weighting) Quality of the research proposal (33.3% weighting) For details: see call for proposals, section 4.2.2 10 13/4/25 NWA-ORC 2020/21
