Reflect on a time when you or your students experienced inspiring learning.
Learning by Experience Learning by Experience Learning by experience is a central purpose of our mortal journey. As Elder David A. Bednar once observed, Learning by faith and from experience are two of the central features of the Father s plan of happiness. We could not have simply memorized celestial laws in our premortal life and declared ourselves fit for the celestial kingdom. We needed to come to this mortal existence to experience certain things we could not experience in our premortal life and to learn from those experiences. Experience is a key part of our mortal learning process. Similarly, students cannot learn all they need to learn by memorizing or even discussing principles in a classroom, as exhilarating as that may be. Experience connects theory with application and deepens our understanding of the principles and truths we learn.
