LibreTexts Level I - Introduction to LibreTexts LibreTexts is a powerful platform for all things OER publishing, printing, developing, remixing , interactive exercises, homework systems, and more.   5. What is LibreTexts? The mission of the LibreTexts project is to unite students, faculty and scholars in a cooperative effort to develop an easy-to-use online platform for the construction, customization, and dissemination of OER. In courses relevant to academic programs, the aim is to reduce the burdens of unreasonable textbook costs to our students and society. The project ensures the OER 5Rs design are fully met enabling faculty to build course-specific LibreTexts to meet the needs of their students. Visit us at www.LibreTexts.org

  7. LibreTexts is: An OER storage, development, curation, remixing, and enhancing platform. Most any text that is OER that you have an interest in using SHOULD be in LibreTexts. You can re-mix in LibreTexts combining resources and re-ordering content. When you import LibreTexts resources into Canvas, changes are automatically pushed to Canvas.

  9. Exploring LibreTexts No log-in needed Go to the LibreTexts website (libretexts.org) Explore the Libraries Select the library of your choosing If you search, you will only be searching within a given library

Within a Library Campus Bookshelves Books as adopted by faculty Each college can have up to 5 books for free Bookshelves Adoptable books LibreTexts should have whatever OER you are interested in Learning Objects cContent items, practice items, assessment items. These resources are self-contained, digital or non-digital resources that can be used for learning, education, or training and can be grouped/arranged thematically.

Simplest Use-Case Scenarios Adopt a LibreText Provide students with URL to access text in LibreTexts Adopt a LibreText by importing it into Canvas Once your text is embedded in Canvas, you can integrate it with your content, assessments, and discussions Optional provide students with URL to access text in LibreTexts

Importing a LibreText into Canvas Download your LibreText Download Select Import into LMS Give your download a name so that you can find it Default file name: LibreText.imscc Import it into Canvas In your Canvas site select Import Existing Content From the Import Content Content Type menu select Common Cartridge 1.x Package Browse to find your download and select it Indicate all content Import View in Modules

  15. Requesting a LibreTexts Instructor Account https://commons.libretexts.org/accountrequest Please use your campus email address to facilitate verification of your instructor status. Instructor accounts are for instructors only. Please use your campus email address to facilitate verification of your instructor status. Upon approval, you should receive a notification from LibreTexts Conductor. Login details for your requested service(s) will arrive separately. Please check your junk/spam folder if you do not receive them. Accounts are required to modify content on the LibreTexts libraries including editing pages, uploading content, creating new Course Shells, and remixing customized textbooks.
