Employees Role in Requesting FMLA Workday process for leave requests is under construction Three ways employees can request information about FMLA Walk-in Call FMLA packet on HR website - https://www.unlv.edu/hr/benefits/leave/fmla 15 day deadline for employee to submit medical documentation While on leave, the employee should not perform any work Employees are responsible for inputting their time off (sick time off, annual time off, etc.) into Workday while on leave Emergency situations Absence support and managers can help input time off All employees receive a designation notice A copy of the notice is sent to the manager, supervisor, business manager, HR business partner, and / or HR liaison
HRs role in the FMLA Process Manage and advise the FMLA process, including intermittent leave Official notification Employee(s) - courtesy reminder return to work Department - extensions, return to work with restrictions / no restrictions Review the types of FMLA Approve or deny leave
Supporting Managers and Supervisors in the FMLA Process Recognize an employee s possible need for time off under FMLA Notify HR as soon as possible Employee s return to work Fitness for duty form Reminders Always maintain confidentiality What to do when employee is on leave Intermittent leave All employees need to submit time off in Workday Manager / supervisor and absence support
Financial Impact Workday does not obligate payroll for employees on leave of absence (e.g. FMLA, intermittent FMLA, sabbatical, etc.) As a result, manager balance reports are inaccurate within departments with employees on leave Workers on Leave - PAY - CR (NSHE) report Employees with the absence support and manager security roles can run this report Contact your department business office to discuss financial impact
Wrap-up We need your assistance on who needs to be notified from your area regarding FMLA designation and notifications Business Managers HR Liaisons Administrative Assistants We are your partners in your employee s leave of absence Please use this current leave of absence process until the issue is fixed in Workday Direct employees to new website and absence manager for questions
