Working Time Arrangements The balance of time between the teacher s weekly agreed timetable, personal allowance and 35 hour week must normally be allocated from the list of activities contained in the Code of Practice ( Annex D of the Teachers Agreement) Maximum class contact time is 22 hours in all sectors A teacher with 22 hours class contact time and 7.5 hours of personal allowance has 5 hours which can be allocated to the collective activity time
Working Time Arrangements Agreement on Collective Activity Time The Head Teacher and the school s accredited trade union representative will prepare a draft agreement on the working week This should be preceded by an EIS branch meeting that reviews the current years arrangements and suggests changes for the next year The draft agreement will be circulated to all EIS members for consultation who should meet to agree the EIS position The draft agreement will then be circulated to all teaching staff for consultation
A calendar for the coming session including dates of all parents meetings and liaison meetings will be drawn up as part of the WTA negotiation process, this should also be circulated as per the WTA agreement A limit of 35 hours is set for each week, therefore, two events can t take place in one week A confirmatory vote of the teaching staff will be held to approve the calendar and the WTA
Submission to Local Authority This should include: Completed pro forma. The agreed Working Time Arrangements The school s calendar for the year. All paperwork should be signed by the Head Teacher and the Trade Union Representative. (In the event that the staff cannot reach agreement or at the request of a trade union representative the Informal Dispute Procedure will be enacted.)
Working Time Arrangements Parents Meetings It is recommended that the maximum allowance of 5 hours is allocated for each parents meeting. The three elements include: Meeting with parents Preparation of reports Travel time.
Preparation of Reports The time parameter of (45-60 hours) Forward Planning The time parameters of (25-45 hours) Planning in the Primary Policy 2014
Liaison Time A number of hours for planning purposes in line with the school development plan Working Groups-These individuals affected will agree in advance; the time of the meeting, pattern of meetings, duration of meetings (These meetings inevitably generate workload for those participating both before and after each meeting in terms of preparation and follow up)
Flexible Time Schools/Establishments can utilise flexible time during the session to cater for unanticipated events (HMIe/Care Commission etc) Flexible time is an acknowledgement of professional autonomy, activities may include: Additional preparation and correction Formal assessment Supervised pupil activity Additional management activity
