Objectives Know the process: Participants will understand the TDES process and their responsibilities as a professional. Know the rubric: Participants will begin to build their understanding of the TDES rubric, including key elements that define quality practice at different levels of performance. Collect Evidence: Participants will strengthen their ability to create and collect authentic evidence to showcase their practice.

Who evaluates me? Teachers: building administrators (Principal, Assistant Principal, or CIS) Paras: building administrators RSP Providers: supervisors Evaluator will be the same for all steps (unless a leave occurs) 4/13/2025 11
What is the Portal? The TDES is managed online. The Great Teachers & Great Leaders website is called the portal. User name/password are the district log in. 4/13/2025 12
When will I be evaluated? TDES Events Growth Plan/Improvement Plan (September 27) Document Submission 1(November 22) Formal Announced Observation (February 21) Document Submission 2 (April 17) Final Composite (Portal Closes May 1) 4/13/2025 4/13/2025 13 13

Growth Plan New RSPs for 19-20 will be on a Growth Plan (GP). The GP is managed in the same portal as the evaluations. Growth Plans due September 27 4/13/2025 4/13/2025 15 15
Growth Plan Select 1 TDES Component Select one professional standard Use these two priority areas for writing your Professional Growth Plan.
Document Submission (1 of 2) 1. Evaluator schedules the conference 2. RSP submits evidence in the portal by the date requested by the evaluator 3. Evaluator receives notice that the evidence has been submitted in the portal 4. Evaluator can add evidence to the Document Submission in the portal 4/13/2025 17
Document Submission (2 of 2) 5. Professional self-assesses on the rubric 6. Evaluator marks areas of agreement on the rubric and shares with the professional 7. Professional and evaluator meet for the conference to discuss and finalize rubric All must occur within 10 working days from pre- conference to post-conference.
Formal Announced Observation (1 of 2) 1. Evaluator and professional collaboratively schedule the FAO and pre-and post-conferences 2. Professional submits service plan through the portal (48 hours prior to the pre-conference) 3. Professional and evaluator hold a pre- conference to discuss the service plan 4. Evaluator observes lesson for at least 30 minutes 5. Evaluator submits evidence; professional can submit evidence
Formal Announced Observation (2 of 2) 6. Professional self-assesses on the rubric 7. Evaluator marks areas of agreement on the rubric and shares with the professional 8. Professional and evaluator meet for the post- conference to discuss and complete rubric All must occur within 10 working days from pre- conference to post-conference.
Composite Final step to arrive at overall observation rating 1. Evaluator schedules steps in the portal. 2. Professional self-assesses on Composite rubric. 3. Evaluator marks areas of agreement 4. Evaluator and professional meet for Composite conference to discuss. 5. Evaluator determines final Composite rating. 6. Must be completed by May 1 when portal closes.
What is Evidence? Evidence is objective description of something observed. It makes no suggestion of quality.
Evidence vs. Interpretation Evidence is Interpretation is Non-Judgmental Teacher: when a car is accelerating its speed changes Judgmental The teachers explanation of acceleration was clear Specific 4 of 10 students raised hands 2 students had side conversation Generalized Students were minimally engaged
Types of Evidence Direct quotes of professional and students What the professional writes What students write on their paper Description of materials and how they are used Descriptions of what happened, in what order The number of times something happens
When to Provide Evidence: Any area in which you identify yourself as Accomplished. Events in the day s lesson that happened prior to or after the evaluator was present. If you disagree with the rating to support your claim.
Domain Activity Read over each domain As a table, identify 3 things that would use in planning your lessons to incorporate for each component. Post results on the corresponding poster. Gallery Walk
