3GPP TSG-RAN WG4 Meeting RAN4#95-e Online, May 25 June 5, 2020 DRAFT R4-2008404 WF on EVM Requirement for UL MIMO Transmission Motorola Mobility, .. 1
Background For single antenna transmission Tx EVM is specified at the antenna connector in TS 38.101-1 Tx EVM at the antenna connector is the same as the EVM per layer for single antenna transmission For UL-MIMO, two layers are transmitted from two antennas Tx EVM at each antenna connector is not the same as the EVM per layer and it is EVM per layer that determines the noise/error floor for the transmission layer To specify and measure EVM per layer due to transmitter impairments, a MIMO receiver is needed 2
Way Forward Consider methods for defining and measuring per-layer EVM for UL MIMO transmission Methods that can be considered should include at least Linear MMSE MIMO Receiver Linear Zero-Forcing MIMO Receiver Evaluation of methods may include at least per-layer EVM as a function of The channel matrix H H The variance and cross-correlation of the Tx noise at the antenna connectors; e.g., with correlation matrix 2 1 1 Note: UL-MIMO EVM is to be tested with both layers transmitted; i.e. 2-layer UL MIMO transmission with codebook 1 2 0 1 1 0 3
