Goal of Guided Pathways Effort at Ca ada College: Redesign the college to make it student ready and improve educational outcomes.* *Redesign the college based on the principles and best practices outlined in Redesigning America s Community Colleges: A Clearer Path to Student Success, 2015, by Thomas R. Bailey, Shanna Smith Jaggars, and Davis Jenkins and published by the Community College Research Center at Teachers College, Columbia University, and based on the City University of New York (CUNY) system launched the Accelerated Study in Associate Program (ASAP). Follow guidance provided by the California Community College Chancellor s Office and the requirements of the more than $400,000 Ca ada received to implement Guided Pathways.

Participatory structure for the college re-design process: Guided Pathways Steering Committee Planning & Budgeting Council College President Who: Faculty, Staff, Students and Administrators What: Hears recommendations made by the Guided Pathways Steering Committee; solicits input from constituency groups; makes recommendations for process improvements and change to the College President Who: Faculty, Staff, Students and Administrators What: Responsible for (re)designing process improvements in accordance with the principles and promising practices of Guided Pathways and achieve its goals at Ca ada College Who: Chief Executive Officer What: Accepts or modifies recommendations from PBC and implements them on behalf of the College

Steering Committee Progress to date: Redesign elements approved by PBC and implemented: Guided Onboarding: CRM messaging and staffing; process improvements Creation of Interest Areas Creation of Program Maps for every academic program Creation of Success Teams for every Interest Area Redesign elements to be developed or expanded in 2021-22: Implementation of Success Teams First Year Experience Programs Dual Enrollment and Early College Experience Career Exploration E-portfolios and support for transfer services and job placement

Roles and Responsibilities: 2021-22 Guided Pathways Steering Committee Responsible for (re)designing process improvements in accordance with the principles and promising practices of Guided Pathways and achieve its goals at Ca ada College Interest Area Success Teams Monitor student-level data in the Interest Area (and build and manage relationships with each student in the Interest Area - or special program serving each student) to help each student develop a sense of connection and belonging and to help them with: Onboarding and matriculation Retention and persistence Completion of education goals Interest Area Faculty Leads Co-lead the Interest Area Planning Group to accomplish the items on the next slide. Serve on the Steering Committee and any work groups as needed to accomplish the below.

Interest Area Faculty Leads Enable the Interest Area Planning Group to: Establish one or more Success Teams to serve the students in the Interest Area Implement First Year Experience program for new students in the Interest Area Maintain clear Program Maps for the academic pathways of the Interest Area Remove barriers to program completion by optimizing the schedule for student success Identify opportunities for high school student early college experiences via dual enrollment, concurrent enrollment, and related activities Create and provide career exploration opportunities for students in the Interest Area which could include the following activities: o Career Assessments o Career Counseling Classes o Speakers; Field Trips o Job Shadowing opportunities o Internships o Job Placement Be responsible for: Create opportunities for Interest Area students and faculty to share perspectives and increase students' understanding of the programs of study, transfer and career possibilities (events, speakers, etc.). In close collaboration with the Interest Area Success Team, maintain regular communication with students whose Program of Study is contained within the Interest Area regarding events, community building opportunities, transfer and career support services available to them. Collaborate with student support services to ensure that discipline faculty recommend student leaders for various peer-to-peer support roles for every hiring cycle (peer mentoring, tutoring, etc.). Maintain the Interest Area website so that it is a reliable resource for Interest Area students, faculty, staff as well as Outreach staff and the community at large. Coordinate with career counselors, faculty and staff to support career exploration (such as internships, field trips, project-based learning, etc.) in the Interest Area. (Other duties as defined in scope of work for reassigned time).
