What About You? Have you ever believed something that turned out to not be true? Have you ever met someone else who believed something that was not true?
What Do You Think? How could you respond to someone who s been fooled? What could you do to try to convince him he s been fooled?
The Galatians They were worshipping false gods Paul shared the gospel and they responded They received the Holy Spirit and saw God work miracles among them
The Galatians After Paul left, other teachers came to help them in their growth These teachers showed them truths from the Bible (OT) and encouraged them to act on these truths
The Galatians They started to follow what the teachers said to get closer to God Things seemed to be going well, but then They get a letter from Paul
The Galatians I am amazed deserting different gospel distort the gospel (1:6-9) You foolish Galatians (3:1-5) I fear for you (4:11) I am perplexed about you (4:20)

From Sons to Slaves?! They were slaves to non-gods (8) Idols The Pantheon (Acts 14:8-18) Demons behind false religions
From Sons to Slaves?! They were made right with God by faith, just like Abraham So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer. (3:6-9)
From Sons to Slaves?! They were adopted as sons! For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. (3:26-27)
From Sons to Slaves?! They were turning back to slavery Weak, worthless elemental things Rituals, traditions, The Law Religion without the Reality
From Sons to Slaves?! They were turning back to slavery Why? To be closer to God! Col. 2:16-23
From Sons to Slaves?! Their behavior was inconsistent with the truth of the Gospel (10; 2:14) A subtle slippery slope: calendar to circumcision (1:6; 4:9; 5:2-3) Cunning, craftiness (Eph. 4:14-15)
From Sons to Slaves?! How serious was this? I fear for you, that perhaps I have labored over you in vain. (11) Was all that work for nothing?
So What? Spiritual people can be deceived Little things mean a lot
So What? Examine our beliefs and practices in light of Scripture Is it consistent with the Gospel? (1:6-9; 2:14-21; 3:1-9) Is it true? (4:16; Eph. 4:14-15)
So What? How did Paul deal with those who were fooled? Why did he even do it? It may be difficult, but it is worth it
