Purpose To mediate the amendments of the trimmed and re-organised 2020 Annual Teaching Plan including School Based Assessment for Dance Studies, Grade 10 for implementation in June 2020 as stipulated in Circular S2 of 2020. To ensure that meaningful proceeds during the remaining teaching time as per the revised school calendar. To assist teachers with guided pacing and sequencing of curriculum assessment. teaching content and
Purpose (continued) To enable teachers to cover the essential core content /skills in each grade within the available time. To assist teachers with planning for the different forms of assessment. To ensure learners are adequately prepared for the subsequent year/s in terms of content, skills, knowledge, attitudes and values.

Summary: Reorganisation of content topics Grade 10 content that will be repeated in grade 11 (2021) has been removed All group activities to be replaced as solo activities/performances June examinations removed Nutrition and hydration + foot care and hygiene removed Only ONE dance work & choreographer

Section B: Dance History and Literacy Question 6: Improvisation and Choreography (15 marks) Could include: Defining improvisation/working with different stimuli/ reflection on PAT/dance elements/ choreographic structures/devices/ musical terms Question 7: History of Dance Major (15 Marks) Could include: Development of dance major/ characteristics, principles of dance major /different types of dance Question 8: ONE Prescribed dance work and choreographer (30 Marks) 8.1 Choreographer (10 marks ) Could include: background/training/influences/awards 8.2 Dance work (20 marks ) Could include: Synopsis/theme/intent/production elements /music/accompaniment used in the dance work/movement styles/genres/quality of performers Total for Section B = 60 Marks
Summary: Revision Final Examination Structure: Paper 2 Grade 10 Paper 1 Practical Content: Marks: 50 converted to 100 Time: 10 minutes per learner examined individually so that learners do not have to wear a mask 1 Minute Solo to be performed TWICE TECHNICAL PERFORMANCE OF THE SOLO = 25 MARKS To include: Recall of solo Awareness of safe dance practices and techniques Developing components of fitness Developing dance principles/style Complexity of movements (neuromuscular skills)

IMPROVISATION = 10 MARKS 1 Minute improvisation to an unseen stimulus to include: Interpretation of stimulus Use of dance elements(space/time/force) Musical interpretation Confidence, imagination Candidates will be given a stimulus on the day + 2 minutes to prepare the improvisation before preforming it.
Summary: Grade 10 Practical Assessment Task (PAT) NO CHANGES MADE PAT 1: CHOREOGRAPHY Term 2: Process mark = 60 Term 3: Product mark = 40
Conclusion The DBE revised Annual Teaching Plans (ATP) for term 2 4 must be adhered to. Protocols for social distancing must be developed for all practical class activities All practical group work/activities must be removed and only done individually no contact work Class work to develop technique, fitness and safe dance practice to be done regularly even though not examined Consideration must be taken for the wearing of face masks during class content requiring aerobic and travelling movements might have to be reduced The set solo for the final examinations should be at the highest level of complexity the learner can manage and should be based on the technical class activities so that appropriate technique, principles and fitness can be demonstrated. No mask to be worn in the final practical examination only appropriate social distancing from the teacher. Final examinations to be filmed for external moderation purposes.
